Hi, I’m Hafiz the eye and heart behind HSPhotoProject.
My journey into photography started when I was just 16. My old man passed down his old Nokia N95, and one evening, I found myself standing on a beach in Kuching at sunset. The sky was glowing, the air calm and I took a photo without thinking too much about it. That one photo changed everything.
It wasn’t just about capturing a view. It was about preserving a feeling a moment that would’ve otherwise faded. From that day on, I began noticing life differently. The little things. The quiet scenes. The stories hidden in everyday moments.
In 2010, after months of saving, I bought my first camera a Nikon D3100 and began exploring street photography in Kuala Lumpur. I’d wander with my camera, tag along with other photographers, and learn through every click. My first gig came as a student an engagement shoot in Melaka and it sparked something even deeper: the joy of turning emotions into memories for others.
After returning home to Sarawak, I photographed events like the Sarawak Cub Prix Championship and the Sibu International Base Jump, while gaining experience in wedding photography under my uncle’s guidance.
But in 2015, I paused my photography career to further my studies. Still, I found a way to stay close to photography handling media duties as part of the student representative committee. It wasn’t the same, but it kept the flame alive.
Now, a decade later, I’ve returned to finish what I started.
With HSPhotoProject, I specialize in weddings, solemnizations, convocations, and more capturing real, raw, and meaningful stories, the way they deserve to be remembered.
Because to me, photography isn’t just about pictures.
It’s about connection. It’s about feeling.
And it’s about turning fleeting moments into something that lasts forever.
